About the Students’ UnionThe Students’ Union was founded over 100 years ago and counts among its alumni such prominent leaders as Peter Lougheed, Lou Hyndman, and Robert Greenhill. To support the academic lives of students, the Students’ Union provides scholarships, academic advising, orientation and other services, as well as a range of both academic and non-academic supports. The Students’ Union also oversees student groups and governance, and manages the Students’ Union Building, the living room of campus. The Students’ Union is an independent organization that is directly governed by students, and is separate from the University of Alberta. All money donated to SIEF goes towards students, and does not support initiatives at University of Alberta.
